Re: mt5 import data issue
hi tickstory
many thanks for the imagery guide now i got the data but one last problem. i downloaded data of period from 2003 to 2024 but when import them all i see is couple of days of 1-2 jan 2008 on bars and ticks.
what did i do wrong on this step or on download mistake but based on data folder size it looks big and i have plenty of free space on hard disk.
looking forward to hear from you
thanks

Re: mt5 import data issue
Hi Tickwaiting,
You might want to cross-check the file that you exported to see that all the data is correctly there. When you see the pre-import, you should be able to see a sample of the data you're importing (as shown in the previous screenshot given). Has that got the data outside of the 2008 period? Have you made sure that "Max Bars in Chart" is set to "Unlimited"? Are your request dates short enough so the items can display (for example, try setting the begin/end request dates to be only one month between Feb 2024 to March 2024)?
Thanks.

Re: mt5 import data issue
Hi Tickstory
yes max bars is unlimited.
do you mean first i should test only short dates from Feb 2024 to March 2024?
so if the short sample exported and imported 100% is this mean i repeated it with longer period?
thank you

Re: mt5 import data issue
Hi Tickwaiting,
Honestly, we haven't seen this issue in the way you describe. If the data has been exported correctly from Tickstory and you can see the dates in the exported CSV file, then there is no reason we know why it wouldn't show in MT5 other than what has been already mentioned.
Since this is appears to be a generic import issue with MT5, maybe you can describe your issue on MQL Forums and see if someone else has seen this? I would just describe the problem as "I have imported a CSV file with tick data with dates x to y and I cannot see it in Metatrader. Why is this?". I think screenshots would be helpful here because at the moment you are describing your process but a series of screenshots might be able to pinpoint the issue much quicker (assuming there's not some sort of bug/corruption in MT5).
Hope this helps.

hi Tickstory,
sure, here is the screenshots of last 5 months data export and its location, if you find anything wrong in them let me know otherwise, I will look for answers at mql5 forum

Re: mt5 import data issue
Hi Tickwaiting,
We've spent some time today trying to replicate your issue but so far no luck. There are a few notes to come out of this though, all relating to MT5:
If none of the above points apply to you, I think the MQL forums are the best bet. For your reference, we are using an earlier build of MT5 4260 (March '24). We have seen instances where a bug might be introduced in a particular version but then subsequently corrected (or a bug waiting to be raised in their forum). We can't comment on whether this is the case but we're noting this to keep it in mind. If there is a latest version of MT5 available to you, it might be worthwhile updating.
Hopefully this helps as much as possible.
We've spent some time today trying to replicate your issue but so far no luck. There are a few notes to come out of this though, all relating to MT5:
- When you set your Tools->Options->Chart->Max Bars In Chart to Unlimited, you will need to restart your terminal again for these settings to take effect.
- Make sure you have selected the correct date range and that your begin/end dates are valid (eg. make sure that end date is greater than the start date and of course that the day and month have been specified correctly).
- MT5 shows you some status information after you do your Request. The status message is shown just below the Symbols combo box in the Symbols->Bars window. If the data is filtered in any way, it will show a message like "<Symbol Name>,M1: x bars. Limited by chart settings". The "Limited by chart settings" means that it has filtered out some data and you need to either set the "Max Bars In Chart" correctly again or that you have not re-started MT5. As far as we know, there are no other reasons for this message.
- When you are shown data from your request, it is shown in reverse chronological order, so the earlier timestamps will be at the bottom.
