Invalid MT4 Installation Folder error

Hi,

in order to enable a RamDisk for history files i had to reinstall the standard metatrader from IG markets without any further modifications.

It actually resides in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\IG MetaTrader 4 Terminal

I startet their terminal - everything is fine. Close metatrader. Start Tickstory,File,Settings,MT4 Settings and select the IG installation folder.

Now a popup appears (appended as a JPG in this mail) telling me, the MT4 installion is not valid. I know it was working before and it is not related to RamDisk, because reverting to prior state results in same error... I can't tell the difference

Can you help, please ?

Hi Torsten,

Could you please clarify a few things:

1) Have you logged into the broker terminal with your login at least once?
2) Did you move any files (other than the FXT) in the process?
3) In MT4, could you please go to File->Open Data Folder and browse to "history/<servername>" and check that there is a "symbols.sel" file.

Hi,

funny, i had to login to the broker once to get it work. (It was not my intention to use this installation for real trading) Starting the IG MT4 wothout login causes the issue.

Hi Torsten,

That's correct. The error message mentions that you need to log in at least once because MT4 downloads some important files that Tickstory checks for.

Hi,

the error messag says i have to run MT4 (at least) once not to log in to an existing live account. Perhaps this could be clarified in a later release ?
