Please Explain Us the new system of licence

And what about the monthly subcriptions.

Like many other I am a client who bought TS licence many years ago.
In october I have received a new email as I have to pay a new licence ,..., why not .
So I have bought a new licence (Standard) with an Update & Support subcription free until 12/26/2018.
But I do not understand what there is with this subscription that will cost 10$ per month.

Or more simply, what will happen after 12/26/2018 ? My licence will be blocked ? I could not access to dukascopy value ?
I will to have pay again a new licence ? Or subscribe 10$ per month ?

I am lost . And more over that I am using today the very last release (1.9.2.3) , the subcription is active , and I am receiving error 503 when I want to download DukasCopy data:(

Please could you clarify ?

Thanks for your query - and for your support over the years!

Regarding your questions:

A subscription essentially provides you with on-going support and updates to the software. Over the years, we found that our bid to provide on-going updates for as long possible was not sustainable. On-going support and development is a significant cost and we now cover that via the subscription.

Subscribing means that you will have:
- The speediest access exports and downloading/processing of data (while adhering to any CPU or server limitations).
- Any of the latest improvements, bug-fixes and new features.

You will not be blocked from using the software nor from downloading the latest tick data once your subscription expires. That said, your download speeds will no longer be enhanced and you will not be eligible for future premium support or updates. It's worthwhile noting that recently Dukascopy have made changes to their servers which has required some unexpected changes to Tickstory. If you are outside of your subscription, you would not have access to these new changes. Given that you've been around since 2015, you probably know that these sorts of changes are exceptional, however we can't foresee any changes to third-party systems which is why we always recommend that you maintain a subscription while you intend to use the software. The option for a subscription has been left up to the user in order to make the software as accessible as possible to all our valued users.

In the event your subscription lapses, you will need to restart your subscription by paying for a new license. Otherwise, you can either pay a monthly fee or purchase the Professional edition, which includes 12-months of updates.

As mentioned on your other thread, please use your download link to download the latest v1.9.2.4 which should resolve the problem.

Are you sure that the software detects TickStory release (Lite,Standard,Pro) to accelerate the download ?

Other remarks concerning the licence.
Now it is clear that I will have to pay each time a new version will be developped, but I am a little worried as I see that since one month , at least 4 release has been developped (1.9.0->1.9.2.4).

What is a new release which will need to pay a new licence 1.9.2.3-->1.9.2.4 ???? Or 1.9.2-->1.9.3 ??? Or 1.9 to 2.0 ?

Yes, depending on your Edition, a different level of multi-threading takes place. If you are noting any slow down, this is likely due to Dukascopy server restrictions. Once the data download has been completed once, the multi-threading will be more noticeable.

Payments are made on a monthly basis, regardless of how many releases are made. While you have an active subscription, you are entitled to that latest version. When your subscription expires, you are entitled to the last version that was released within your subscription period.

My remark was this one :
Since new 1.9 release you are publising a new release per week.
For exemple 1.9.2.3 last week and 1.9.2.4 this week.(without improvement just bug resolve)

So without monthly subcription that 's mean that the standard licence will be obsolete very quickly (one week after the bying)

In fact the real change in TIckstory is that now, to have a licence and be able to download data, we have to pay every month.

That is not a criticism but a statement. Important to know the truth in order to adopt a strategy.

This new licence system motivate us (MQL4 developpers) to quickly migrate in MQL5 software.

Now the strategy is clear for me & I repeat it is not a criticsim, marketing tickstory team have certainly evaluated this risk.

Thanks for the feedback. Generally speaking, Standard users have some time (30 days) to determine if the software is fit for their purpose. From there, we have decided to leave each user with their own cost-benefit analysis to determine whether they wish to keep up-to-date with the latest versions.

Even after the user's subscription expires, they can continue to download data at no extra charge. While it's true there have been a number of exceptional changes recently to maintain data feed compatibility, we won't be denying users an important fix because their subscription expired a few days before. Hopefully we have demonstrated over the years that customer satisfaction has been a priority to us and our licensing model is our best attempt to balance this with covering our on-going costs. Maintaining a subscription is commitment to us which will be reciprocated by providing the best service we can.

P.S. We will also be around to support you in your move from MT4 to MT5.

In fact I had already read this thread and also in mql5 metaquotes forum and it seems that there is no solution for the moment for using TS with MT5 (see conclusion of your client)
We are a little lost...

I want to use software today and notice that now the release is 1.9.2.7 and that my subscription end today (12/26).

Clould you gently give me the opportunity to use the last release ?
