HELLO,

In MT4, what should I be setting the Spread to when backtesting. Does it matter what it is set at?

I can either leave it on Current, set to 0, or set to the same as the spread I put in Tickstory before exporting,

Kind regards,

Frank

Hi Vitali,

MT4 have made a change in the more recent versions of the platform that cause the spread setting in the Strategy Tester to override any settings in the data file. This means you should set your spread in the Strategy Tester to whatever value you want. That is, if you put the value "35'" for a 5-digit symbol, the spread will be 3.5 pips. For a 4-digit symbol, the value "3" will back-test as 3 pips. If you leave it at "current spread", then it will use the last recorded broker spread for the selected instrument.

Hope this helps.
