Tickstory does not re-download data

Tickstory does not re-download data

Hi all,

today, i was downloading NZDCHF, from 2008 to 2020.
I'm running Tickstory Lite 1.9.6.1 [L] (Build date: 2020-12-10)

At some point my router dropped the DSL connection, so i started to receive errors from Tickstory, ok...

After 10 minutes, the connection came back again and Tickstory continued to download data normally.

At the end of the process, I can see the start date and end date for NZDCHF in the list are correct.
I looked into the directory structure and that confirmed that some files in 10 and 11 directories are not downloaded (as expected from logs).
Ok, no problem, I will tell Tickstory to download them again (so i thought!)
Then I started a new download from 10/06/2018 to 11/06/2018.
Well, i saw the progress bar but nothing has been actually downloaded.
Mmmm, that's strange. Maybe it sees the "10" and "11" directory are already there and it thinks those are completed.
So I deleted the two directories, and tried again...with no luck! :cry:

In the end, I had to download manually all missing files...

Now the question is: WHY Tickstory do not try to download data again?
Am I missing or doing anything wrong? :roll:
Could this behavior be a bug?

Hi Daniele,

The storage folder names have a zero-based month index. Therefore, '6' is actually July. If you download the month of July 2018, it will back-fill the missing information.

Essentially (and without needing to concern yourself with the details of how the data is stored), we have designed the application such that it if no error has appeared in the log, you can be sure that the selected date range has been retrieved and exported successfully. Of course, there is always a possibility of a bug so thanks for raising it, but in this case we have tested it and can confirm it works correctly and as expected.

Yes, I imagine that if there are no errors, everything is fine.
My fault was to try downloading the wrong month. :lol:

I will suggest some software improvements in the correct forum section.
