What is the best way to stop MT4 from auto-updating?
What is the best way to stop MT4 from auto-updating?
Can you guys recommend the easiest way to stop MT4 from auto-updating? Is seems that on the latest Terminal.exe the LiveUpdate.exe is incorporated in the Terminal.exe file. Is there a registry hack that would prevent the update? Please let us know. This is becoming sooo annoying lately.. it seems that Tickstory needs an update for just about every MT4 new release.

Hi Lenny,
Have you tried the "roll-back and skip update" procedure described in this thread: http://tickstory.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=876.
Thanks.

Yes of course I tried. But the question refers to avoiding having to revert back to an older version to begin with. Any way to stop the update from happening in the first place?
Re: What is the best way to stop MT4 from auto-updating?
Hi Lenny,
Maybe I am misunderstanding the question, so I will leave others to give some input after this. The "/skipupdate" is the only "nice" way I know of to stop an update occurring. If you are talking about tinkering with the innards of the update procedure, there are update files residing in C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\MetaQuotes\WebInstall\mt4clw that are installed whenever there is a newer version. You could potentially make these files read-only to prevent them from being updated, but you'd need to play around. As far as I know, the update/download procedure is initiated by terminal.exe.
Hope this helps.
